From the archives: Free polio vaccine clinics to be held in county

On Feb. 22, the mental health clinic held its first meeting at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy, and the first patients were seen that day.
Serving as sponsors of the clinic have included physicians, ministers, Business and Professional Women’s’ Club and hospital employees have served as sponsors and worked to get the clinic open.

County polio clinics will be open soon as county physicians will administer polio vaccines for free.

Approximately 30 people representing five churches met at the Bethel House of God on Hwy. C to discuss the possibility of establishing a Christian Center in Troy. Fourteen members were selected to help plan for the center and a name The Lighthouse Center.” was selected by the group .

Debbie Myers, a student at Central Missouri State University, was inducted into the Alpha Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi

The Lincoln County R-III School District administration and boar will interview six finalists for the principal’s position at Troy Buchanan High. The person will succeed Donnie Gaddis who is retiring.

A mother and child reported missing were found by a volunteer searcher.
Rebecca Riley and Riley Shiver were found about a quarter-mile from the residence they had left. They were found in rugged terrain in an area near the Lincoln-Warren county line.

Troy Police Chief Jeff Taylor announced that department has organized a crimes against children unit

Linda McGlothlin., Sandra Bussard, and Jane Coose, representing the Beta Alpha Chapter of the delta Kappa Gamma Society, presented a \tabletop podium to the Winfield Library. The gift was in memory of Joyce Currie, former Winfield school librarian.

Groundbreaking for the new Ninth Grade Center in Moscow Mills was held March 15.
