Students compete in State competition

Students from Pike-Lincoln Technical Center in Eolia journeyed to Linn State Technical College to compete in the state Skills

Zach Miller, winner of the individual welding skills contest will compete in the National Skills USA contest in Kansas City in June.

USA contest. Students from the Diesel and Welding Technology programs competed against other students from all over the state to determine who would represent Missouri at the National contest in Kansas City.

Competing in the technical writing contest for the Diesel Technology program included Troy High Seniors Dominic Ferrante and Rusty Shaw; post secondary students Shane Coleman and Daniel Myers. Overall placing was Coleman 1st, Myers 2nd, Ferrante 8th and Shaw 11th. Students competing in the technical hands on skills contest were Bowling Green Senior Jed Niemeyer placing 4th, Post secondary students Kyle Pruitt placing 4th and Daniel Myers in 5th.

The Welding students were required to take material with an instruction sheet and complete various welding processes. The Fabrication team placed 16th and included Bowling Green Seniors Matt Hudson, Tyler House and Troy Senior Skylar Cox. Zach Miller competed in the individual skills contest placing 1st over all competitors and will compete in the National Skills USA contest at Kansas City in June. Zach is the son of Donnie and Linda Miller, of rural Silex.
