After winning their first two games of the season, Troy Buchanan tussled with  another undefeated  squad as they hosted the Fort Zumwalt North Panthers in a Friday the 13th showdown. The Panthers struck early and often enroute to a 41-20 win.

After the teams exchanged fumbles,  the Panthers struck first on a 13-yard pass from Brenden Pierce to Tre Johnson and kicked the PAT, putting them into a 7-0 lead with 10:17 left in the period. On their next possession after the Trojans stopped consecutive running play inside the five, Pierce went to the air and found Justin Fitzpatrick open  for a touchdown.  They added the PAT, increasing their lead to 14-0 with 4:36 left in the opening period.

In the second period, Pierce threw his third TD pass, a 27-yard strike to Pierce. The extra point attempt failed. On the ensuing kickoff, Troy’s Nick Travis found an opening and took the ball back 90 yards to put the Trojans on the board with 7:13 left in the half.  This was  the senior’s second kickoff return for a touchdown this season. The Panthers answered right back  as Cameron Fullerton made the thunder roll with a 91-yard return.  They added the PAT, giving them a 27-6 lead which they held at the half.

The Trojans took the opening kickoff in the third period, moving down the field. The drive consumed almost seven minutes but resulted in a three-yard touchdown by Devon Fuller. With 112 seconds left in the third period, Johnson scored his second TD of the game on a 35-yard run (PAT), extending the lead to 34-12. In the final period, Pierce threw for his fourth TD of the game and Troy quarterback Wyatt Hayes scored with 1:53 left to complete the scoring.

Pierce threw for 117 yards (8 of 13) for the game with no interceptions. Fullerton and Johnson combined for  204 yards rushing, helping the Panthers to  396 yards in total offense. For Troy, Justin Sutphin  rushed for 103 yards but Fuller was held to just 44 yards as the Panthers keyed on stopping Troy’s senior running back. Hayes completed 6 of 12 passes for 24 yards. Defensively, Ross Jones led Troy with six tackles.

In a game played at Winfield, the Warriors climaxed an exciting Homecoming with a 334-7 win over MMA, improving their record to 2-1 for the year.
