5K run kicks off
Saturday’s events

After several years of not holding the event, an old staple returned last year to much success. This year, the event is attracting even more participants .
The Lincoln County Fair 5K Run/Walk is planned for July 165 and will begin and end in the Troy city park.
“I think the last year it was held was in 1998 or 1999,” said David Norman, event organizer. “We cannot hold it in the county fairgrounds as the previous route sent the runners across Highway 47. With the increase in traffic on the highway, it was not feasible to use that route.
“We have more people involved in running in the area so we are hopeful for a continued, good turnout,” he said. “Other local running events are supported very well.”
The race on July 15 will begin at 7:30 a.m. Registration and packet pickup will begin at 6:30 a.m. Packet pickup will also be held July 13 and 14 at the Troy Flooring parking lot from 5-8 p.m. This is at 600 Main St. The $25 registration fee includes a t-shirt and finishing medal.
Runners and walkers, get ready for both competition and fun. Help get Saturday’s events off with your participation
