Silex R-I qualifies for ‘Distinction in Performance’
Silex R-1 Schools qualified for the state’s highly coveted “Distinction in Performance” award on the basis of their academic achievements and progress during the last school year.
“We are very proud of the work the students and staff did last year to achieve this honor. Being Accredited with Distinction” means that the district has continuously improved in its performance, and we must continue,” said Elaine Henderson, Superintendent. Silex has been “Accredited with Distinction” by the state in 2000-2001, 2003-2004, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2010-2011, 2011-2012, and 2012-2013.
The Distinction in Performance award is based on the 14 academic performance standards that are the basis of the state’s accreditation program for all school districts. The standards are based on scores from the state-mandated MAP tests, graduation rate, attendance, ACT scores, and other indicators.
To qualify for the award this year, K-12 districts had to meet 13 out of 14 standards, including all of the MAP based measures.
