The Lincoln County Chapter of Missouri Right to Life will mark the 40th anniversary of the legalization of abortion on January 22, 2013. Over 55 million unborn children have been legally killed by abortion since 1973 in the United States. To commemorate this sad anniversary, the local MRL chapter will sponsor several events in January.
On Monday, January 7, at 10:45 a.m., at the Lincoln County Courthouse, the County Commissioners signed a proclamation designating January 22, 2013 as a day to honor the memory of all the children lost due to abortion on demand.
MRL will sponsor their 12th annual county wide, interfaith pro-life prayer vigil on Friday evening, January 18 at 7 p.m., at First Assembly of God Church, 432 South Lincoln Dr., in Troy. Several area churches will participate in the prayer vigil. The evening will include speakers, music, and refreshments. The public is invited and encouraged to attend to pray for the lives of unborn children and the weak an defenseless of our society.
More than 100 Lincoln County residents are making plans to attend the national March for Life in Washington, DC, on January 25, 2013. Groups from Troy, Old Monroe, and Millwood will make this annual trip by bus to meet with their senators and representatives, attend prayer vigils and march peacefully down Constitution Avenue in opposition to abortion.
The MRL local chapter recently held a fundraiser to help make possible their many activities throughout the year. A prize of handmade quilts was awarded to Kevin Flynn, of Troy. A handmade ceramic Christmas decoration was awarded to Kelly Lewis, of Old Monroe. Handmade embroidered pillowcases were awarded to Ellen Schram, of Wentzville.
Missouri Right to Life appreciated the strong pro-life support from Lincoln County residents. The pro-life citizens of Lincoln County can and do make a difference in the fight against abortion.
