Annetta Finley-Alfred Kuntz-Harold Sumowski

Annetta R. Finley, 94, passed away on Saturday Jan. 12, 2013, in Lexington, Ky.

She was born on Aug. 9, 1918, in Lincoln County, Mo. to Frank and Mamie (Tucker) Finley. Annetta grew up with five sisters;Nadine, Anna, Ruby, Frances and Dorothy.

Annetta had her Masters degree in Education and was a beloved teacher in Ohio for over 45 years.

Surviving are her sisters: Nadine Baber, of Elsberry, Anna Godden of Bellingham,Washington, Ruby (Marvin) Edwards of Elsberry, Frances (Charles) Pinkston of Versailles, Ky. and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation  will be held Friday Jan. 18, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy- Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center 1304 Boone Street Troy. Visitation will be also be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Auburn Presbyterian Church near Elsberry. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Auburn Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the   Auburn Presbyterian Cemetery.

 

Alfred E. Kuntz, 84, of Eolia, went to be with the Lord  Friday, Jan., 11, 2013 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.

Funeral services were held at  11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with John Veach officiating.  Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Bowling Green.  Visitation was Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Kuntz was born Dec. 11, 1928, near Elsberry the son of John Arthur and Beatrice Cole Kuntz.  On Oct. 18, 1950, in Auxvasse he married Dorothy Ann Bufford.  She survives.  Other survivors include two sons Eddie Kuntz and wife, Marian, of Eolia and J. B. Kuntz, of Eolia; one daughter Karen Kuntz, of Eolia; three grandchildren Aaron Kuntz and wife, Christy, Jamie and Rob Kuntz; four great grandchildren Scott, Kaitlyn, Tyler and Rileigh Kuntz; one brother, Gaylord Kuntz of West Plains and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Kuntz was a member of the Oak Grove Methodist Church near Bowling Green.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He attended rural schools in Pike and Lincoln counties.  He loved to farm and started early with his father and continued as a grain and livestock farmer all of his life.

Serving as pallbearers were Melvin Motley, Jim Kuntz, Jerry Kuntz, Darryl Kuntz, Ronnie Rose and Gene Rose.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Harold Sumowski

Harold A. Sumowski, 77, of Troy, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 in Troy.

He was born on Sept. 4, 1935, in St. Louis to Steve and Antoniette (Plodcien) Sumowski. Harold attended St. Hedwig Catholic Church and this is where he met the love of his life, Eleanor Wisniewski. Harold worked for the St. Louis City Election Office as a deputy until his retirement. Dancing at the Polish Hall in Madison, Il was enjoyed by both Harold and Eleanor. He also served as a board member and wrote the newsletter for the St. Louis Metro Polka Club. Following Harold’s retirement from work, the couple moved to Lake of the Ozarks for a few years until returning to Troy. They were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawk Point. He will be sadly missed by his family.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Eleanor Sumowski of Troy; his three sons and their wives: Thomas (Maureen) Wokurka of St. Louis, Richard (Jeannie) Wokurka of St. Louis, Robert (Susan) Wokurka of O’Fallon, MO; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one-on-the way and 1 great, great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday Jan. 13, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St. Troy.

Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday Jan. 14, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawk Point. Fr. Frank Kroeninger officiated. Interment followed in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hwy D., Hawk Point.
