Shirley VanBarneveld, age 91, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.

Shirley was born on Nov. 3, 1922 in St. Louis, to Truman and Audrey (Jones) Nickens. She attended the local schools and later met and married Jack VanBarneveld on Oct. 3, 1942. To this union were born five children: Jack, William, Ruth, Bonnie and Barb. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and was always happy when they came to visit. Oil painting, reading, writing poetry, listening to music and tending to her flowers were some of her many pastimes. Shirley attended Troy First Baptist Church, when her health permitted.

Shirley is survived by her son, Jack VanBarneveld and his fiancee Jan Bettencort of Troy; three daughters: Ruth Linley, of O’Fallon, Bonnie Pares and husband, Randy of Buffalo, Wy. and Barb  Monroe nd husband, Bill of Hawk Point; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her son, William VanBarneveld; her brother, Leroy Putnam and her sister, Ruth Rasimas.

Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Cremation Center 1304 Boone Street Troy.

Funeral was held Monday Feb. 18, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment followed in the St. Charles Memorial Gardens St. Charles.

Gwendolyn Anderson

Gwendolyn “Diddie” (NEE: Keeney) Anderson, of O Fallon, died on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at the age of 86.

Born in 1926 and raised in St. Louis, Diddie worked for Bussman Fuse for 18 years. After retiring, she and her beloved husband moved to Winfield and opened Andy’s Country Store from 1980-1994.

She was the loving wife of the late Clarence Eugene Anderson Sr.; beloved daughter of the late Roetta and Elmer Lampe; devoted mother of Debbie Foley, Clarence Eugene  Anderson, Jr., and Dennis Ray Anderson; cherished grandmother of Gregory (Ginny) Chrun Jr., Gena Lee (Robert) Schmitt, Ashley I. Anderson, Megan N. Anderson, Andy Anderson, KayeLee (Chance) Pepper, Travis  McClain, and Melissa (Nick) Gress, and many great-grandchildren; dear sister of Barbara (Bob) Tarrien, Doris Scott, and Daniel (Bonnie) Lampe.

She is preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Humphrey, Romona Crocker, Mary Lou Dickens, and Earlene Lynn.

The family was served by The Baue Funeral Home, 311 Wood Street, O’Fallon. where a visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 from  4-8 p.m. A funeral service 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Baue Funeral Home Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
