New student attendance boundaries approved, effective 2013-2014 in R-III District schools
At the February 19 Lincoln County R-III School District Board of Education meeting, board members unanimously accepted and approved the recommendation of a community-based Boundary Committee to adopt new elementary attendance boundaries for the 2013-14 school year. The adopted boundaries impact approximately 500 elementary students.
The R-III Board of Education understands many families would prefer to remain at their current school, but will continue to follow their residency policy (Policy #2230).
The adopted boundaries provide the district better building utilization, room for growth and looks to the future by creating a “feeder” system for a two middle school district. The Lincoln County R-III School District and the Board of Education would like to send a special thanks to the Boundary Committee, which comprised of approximately 40 community members. The new boundaries are a result of a new, small K-5 elementary opening in the Claude Brown Building. Claude Brown Elementary, the home of the Cardinals, will open in August 2013.
Members of the Boundary Committee of the Lincoln County R-III School District were in attendance at the meeting with Jim Ladlie sharing comments. With the committee was Rob Schwarz of the demographics company contracted by the district.
The DRAFT of the Boundary Committee’s recommendation is now available online. Printed copies will be available at the pre-kindergarten school, elementary schools and middle school in the coming weeks.
In other action, the board approved the calendar for the 2013-2014 school year with the first day of school being Aug. 15, 2013.
