Public hearing scheduled for shoulder improvement on Route U in Lincoln County

The public is invited to learn more and provide comments concerning the proposed resurfacing and shoulder improvements on Route U from Route J to the US 61 and Route U interchange just south of Moscow Mills. The open-house-style hearing will be held on Monday, March 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bank of Old Monroe-Moscow Mills Branch facility located at 12 Freise Industrial Drive in Moscow Mills. “Plans will be on display and property owners will be able to view how their property will be affected,” explained Chris Knapp, MoDOT transportation project manager. Knapp said the purpose of the improvements is to allow safer travel in the area. “We will collect comments from the public and study them for possible inclusion in the final design of the project,” he added. The project is scheduled for construction in 2014 at an estimated cost of $1.8 million.

Maps will be on display at the meeting, and MoDOT staff will be available to answer questions.
