Kiwanis Sweetheart Dance a success

The sounds of the band Butch Wax and the Hollywoods echoed through the Troy Knights of Columbus hall last Saturday evening.
Approximately 300 people attended the annual Troy Kiwanis Club Sweetheart Dinner and Dance.  The event was one of the main annual fund raisers for the Club and its associated Charitable Foundation.  Because of the sell out crowd, the Club/Foundation was able to reach its fund raising goal for this event.  In turn, those funds are used by the Club/Foundation to support at least 15 separate programs and organization in the Troy area and Lincoln County.  The main objective of the Club/Foundation and Kiwanis International is “Changing the World and our Community One Child At a Time”.

The Club/Foundation has scheduled additional fund raising events for 2013 in support of its charitable activities: Kiwanis Pancake Day at LCCOA on Saturday, March 23; Community  Prayer Breakfast with the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 2 at St. Stephens Church; Golf Tournament at Woods Fort County Club on Saturday, May 18 and the Walk With a Child Dinner and Auction in October at a location yet to be determined.
