Reading Across America

Winfield Intermediate School held an assembly on Thursday, February 28 to celebrate their achievements in reading, and also the birthday of Dr. Seuss (March 2). Students participated in the Dr. Seuss trivia, relay races, sat quietly as they were read to, and took the Reading Oath to promise to keep reading and expanding their minds. The whole gym bounced with excitement to participate in the Reading Across America assembly. Pictured above, NEA President, Chris Guinther, and The Cat In The Hat, vowed to keep reading throughout the year, not just for one week. Guinther travels all over Missouri to bring more reading participation and speaks to many students about the importance of books and the knowledge that can be acquired from them.
