Mrs. Edna M. Croft, 77, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 11, 2013, at her residence.
Edna was born on Nov. 28, 1935, in Birmingham, Ala. to Frank and Bertha Mae (Channey) Wamble. She attended the local schools along with her four brothers: Glenn, Bobby Gene, William Paul, Johnny and her sister, MaryAnn. Edna met and later married Paul Croft on Sept. 5, 1950, in Osceola, Ark. To this union were born two daughters: Paula and Sharon.
Edna was no stranger to hard work. She had worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for over 10 years and was known to have the ability to handle five lines at one time. While her daughters were young, Edna served as a Girl Scout leader for their troop and spent much time with her girls. She had also been active in the Jayceettes while living in Caruthersville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Troy. Paul and Edna established Croft Electrical Contractors in 1964. In addition, they later owned and operated Paul’s Fish and Barbeque in Troy for over five years. Many people enjoyed the delicious food and Edna’s wit.
Edna is survived by her loving family; two daughters: Paula and husband, Dennis McVey, of Troy and Sharon and husband, Mike Bradsher, of Troy; four grandchildren: Bryan Paul and wife Katie McVey of Troy, Jamie Shari and husband Rob Atchley of Troy, Wesley Robert and wife Kimmie McVey of Troy, Lance Gregory and wife Ashley Bradsher of Troy. She is further survived by four great-grandchildren: Kelsey Shari Atchley of Troy, Nolan Andrew Atchley of Troy, Connor Paul McVey of Troy, and Addisyn Louise McVey of Troy; two brothers: Glenn and wife, Sammie Wamble, of Southaven, Miss., Bobby Gene Wamble and wife, Nancy, of Germantown, Tenn. and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St. Troy.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Troy. Officiating : Rev. Richard Rhea. Interment to follow in the Troy City Cemetery, Troy. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes or to the American Lung Assoc., c/o the funeral home.
