Kristopher Briggs, 36, of Moscow Mills, was seriously injured in an ATV accident Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred at 4:40 p.m. on private property south of Spring Valley Drive, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Briggs was driving a 2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 when he attempted to drive up a steep muddy embankment when the vehicle fell backwards down the hill.
He was flown by ARCH to Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur.
Three accidents with injuries were reported by Missouri State Highway Patrol in recent days.
Sandra Szyhowski, 48, of Troy, suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident March 13 on Route K west of Hwy. 61. Time of the accident was 7:45 p.m. The Patrol said she was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer when she swerved to avoid a deer, the Explorer traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned. Szyhowski was using a seat belt at the time of the accident. She was transported by ambulance to the Lincoln County Medical Center for treatment.
Two people were injured in a two-car crash on Rt. W south of Route Y. Injured in the accident were Jason Gibbs, 24, (minor injuries) and Robert Scheler, 34, (serious injuries). Both men are from Foley and both were using a seat belt at the time of the accident.
According to the report, Gibbs was southbound in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban and crossed the centerline striking a 1996 Toyota driven by Scheler.
Gibbs was taken by private conveyance to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis. Scheler was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
In the third accident, Carol Jaspering, 46, of Foley, sustained minor injuries in an accident March 18 on Rt. W south of Country Way Lane. Jaspering was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. She overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the roadway and down an embankment, coming to rest in a creek. She was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis. She was using her seat belt at the time of the accident.
