Winfield picks up win on third game

On Tuesday, April 2, Winfield played their second game of the season hosting Warrenton. Unfortunately, Winfield was not able to pull out the win, losing by a final score of 2-1.

Winfield’s goal scorer was Kasey Kaimann, a freshman. Winfield’s goal was assisted by Sarah Entwistle, senior.

Abby Hirsch, sophomore, played the full 80 minutes as Winfield’s goalkeeper.

On Thursday, April 4, Winfield traveled to Elsberry to win their first soccer game of the season. Winfield scored five goals in the first half, and added four more in the second half, to win by a final score of 9-0.

Winfield’s goal scorers were: Kelsey Ziegemeier, junior, who scored five, Sarah Entwistle, senior, who scored one, Hailey Politte, sophomore, who scored one, Katie Burkemper, freshmen, who scored one, and Rachael Burkemper, freshmen, who scored one.

Winfield players earning assists included: Sarah Entwistle, Libby Marko Jessica Steele, Kasey Kaimann, and Rachael Burkemper. Abby Hirsch made just two saves to earn her first solo shutout of the season, playing the full 80 minutes as Winfield’s goalkeeper.

The win improves Winfield’s season record to 1-2.

Mackenzie Hoelting takes a dive for the ball after a Warrenton player collides into her. The varsity team played hard but took a 2-1 loss.
