Sports resume at Troy Buchanan after run of inclement weather
Troy Buchanan High Lady Trojan soccer team evened their season mark to 2-2 with two recent wins.
They opened the season with a 2-1 loss to Jeff City. Kyle Thwing scored the goal for Troy on an assist by Jamie Gilley. Tiffany Hazelwonder had eight saves in goal.
They lost 1-0 to Fort Zumwalt West. Hazelwonder and Tori Ditter split time in the nets with Hazelwonder making nine saves and Ditter had five.
On April 1, Troy defeated Wentzville Timberland 2-1 in overtime. Katelynn Cherry had a goal for Troy (assist by Mariah Vollmer)and Ditter made 12 saves in the game. The winning penalty kick was by Lexy Roberts. On the following evening, they won 1-0 over Francis Howell Central on a goal by Lexy Roberts. Thwing set up the goal. Theshutout was by Ditter.
In baseball, Troy has dropped their first six games. This includes 5-0 and 10-0 shutouts to Fort Zumwalt South and Hillsboro; 6-3 to Windsor; 11-1 to St. Charles West and 2-0 to Wentzville Holt. Jake Crader had two hits in the Holt game. Dan Rivera had two hits against St. Charles West. He also had three hits in the Windsor loss with an RBI. Josh Lucas and Nick Tubbessing also drove in runs in that game.
In track, Coach Par Pitts reported that Dalton Gilbert placed second in the discus (129 ft.) and Ben Krause placed third in the 200 meter dash (223.18). Both occurred in a meet at Wentzville Holt.
