Kaibel wrestled at 152/160 lbs. for the Troy Buchanan Trojans this past season. He qualified for the Missouri State Tournament, finished with a 35-7 record and came away with the third most pins in a season for Troy Buchanan.
He was also named the team’s MVP this past season while finishing second in his weight class at the Gateway Athletic Conference Tournament and second at districts. Kaibel showed off his skills in the classroom as well by being named an All-Conference Scholar Athlete.
Kaibel plans on wrestling in the 165 lbs. weight class during his freshman season for the HLGU Trojans.
“I have been working with Jacob since his sophomore year and I have seen him improve every season,” said HLGU Head Wrestling Coach Scott Hawes. “I continued to be impressed with his character and work ethic when he attended our Trojan Wrestling Camp. Jacob is a good student and loves wrestling and he wants to continue to improve. He is enthusiastic about HLGU and wrestling for HLGU next year. I’m looking forward to his enthusiasm and hard work in the room.”
Kaibel is the son of Ken and Traci Kaibel and is undecided on his major at HLGU at this time.
HLGU is a Division I NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school and a member of the American Midwest Conference.
