A night out, learning life lessons and hearing inspirational stories

For an early Mother’s Day gift, I bought my mom a pair of tickets to The Fox. It wasn’t just a normal production though, it was something that she really wanted to see…and be apart of. We saw a medium, which is, by definition: “A person thought to have the power to communicate with the spirits of the dead or with agents of another world or dimension. Also called psychic.” Theresa Caputo was the one act of the night, and for those of you who aren’t familiar with Theresa, she has a show on TLC called Long Island Medium. She can relay messages from people who have crossed over to those who are still living.

She began the show by giving the crowd of 4,000 a bit of her history. She started feeling like she was different from everyone at about the age of 4. She could hear things that no one else could hear, but it wasn’t until she was much older and married for 10 years that she figured out that she could channel these feelings and actually listen to someone to relay a message.

The Long Island Medium star began the night connecting with older families who had lost their loved ones. They were amazed by the amount of knowledge that she revealed that no one else would have known. Theresa joked that she couldn’t find that on Google if she tried. Many people are skeptics until they are personally read. My mother and I had no chance of being read as we were in the “nose-bleed” section. Even though we didn’t get a reading, Theresa suggested that we take the information and apply it to ourselves as an “experience”. It was very touching to get to watch as others healed and to see the emotion on their faces as they were connecting with their lost family member. To see a father break down and cry because he was reassured his baby girl was at peace was a tearjerker. The ones who needed the closure most certainly got it.

One of the lucky guests was able to get a message from her brother, who drowned in the Meramec River when he was a young boy. The family learned what actually happened that day and the sister got a message from her brother to embrace life instead of holding back like she had been. Another mother heard from her babies that she lost at birth. Out of her triplets, only one survived. They (the spirits) spoke of things that she never told anyone and let her know that they were at peace and experienced a lifetime of love in the little time she was able to hold them before their passing. One of the most interesting families that stood up during the two-hour show was one that lost a daughter to a murder. She spoke of being almost happy that she was the one that could end his abuse. She also said she was the one guiding her parents to the clues to “lock him up”.

It was reinforced that everyone is perfect as they enter into Heaven and it’s a magical place when you arrive. We also learned that babies keep growing and loved ones watch over us in the good times and the bad times. Many inspirational stories came out of the night and even if you don’t believe in mediums, you can still take away the beautiful meanings and messages that come from the readings. Never give up on life, your loved ones would want you to live everyday to its fullest and keep smiling, no matter how hard it may be at times.
