Several athletes on the Troy Buchanan High track team continue to perform well in recent meets.
On April 12, Troy placed fourth at the Fort Zumwalt East Relay. The discus and shot put team of Leah Colbert, Bri Livingston, Emily Montgomery and Caroline Burkemper placed first. The 4×800 relay team of Rachel Sullivan, Rebecca Ashburn, Riley Fader and Courtney Huff placed first (10.17.60).
Teams placing second included:
4×200 (1.57.7) – Kiersten Otte, Nichole Schulte, Destiny Law, Rachel Sullivan.
Distance Medley (14.10.8) – Nikki Haney, Rebecca Ashburn, Daisy Walker, Riley Fader.
4×1600 (24.45) – Nikki Haney, Rebecca Ashburn, Liz Edwards, Riley Fader.
The 4×4 team of Kaitlin Marhanka, Destiny Law, Kiersten Otte and Morgan Hartwig placed third.
Troy placed second in a meet at Fort Zumwalt North held April 19. They had 126.5 points, edged out by Wentzville Holt (128.5). Colbert won both the discus (107-10.5) and the shot put (36-5.5) with Livingston placing second in both (105-9/5) in the discus and (32-3.5) in the shot put. Sullivan placed first in the 400 meter dash (61.35) and won the 200 meter (27.09). Riley Fader placed second in the 3200 meter in a school record time of 12.18.1. Elizabeth Edwards placed second in the 800 meter run (2.38.6).
The 4×800 relay team of Haney, Fader, Ashburn and Sullivan won in a time of 10.43.100. The 4×200 team of Law, Stephanie Rickterkessing, Jesse Hollenbeck and Sullivan placed second with a time of 1.56.07.
In high school soccer, Troy Buchanan defeated Wentzville Holt 2-1 in overtime. Mariah Vollmer scored one goal and then they won on a penalty shot. Brittany Williams had an assist. Tiffany Hazelwonder made 16 saves in the win.
On April 20, Troy lost 2-0 to Fort Zumwalt West with both goals coming in the second half. Hazelwonder made 15 saves in the loss. They also lost 2-0 to Columbia Hickman.
In recent baseball action, Troy lost 15-3 to Francis Howell. Jake Crader, Devon Fuller and Josh Lucas had two hits apiece for Troy with Fuller driving in two runs. Zach Weston took the loss.
They recently split a doubleheader with Francis Howell Central, winning 4-2 before dropping a 4-3 decision. In the win, Daniel Rivera had two RBIs with Crader and Lucas also producing runs. Nic Tubbessing was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits and struck out five hitters. In the loss, Alex Tiefenthaler had an RBI, two hits including a double. Crader also had an RBI and Lucas stroked a double. They also defeated Union 6-3 and lost 8-5 to North County.
