For the past 20 or so years, Troy R-III first graders have been able to enjoy a fishing field trip at the end of the year to the Duck Pond in Troy. “We really enjoy having the kids come out and learn a little about fishing. We are very appreciative of the fire department and parents that come out to help with this event every year,” said Kevin Eulinger, Conservation Agent.

Conservation agents provided fishing poles for the children and helped them to cast their lines in just the right spots to get a bite. The kids had a blast in the nice weather as they baited their hooks and participated in the competition to see who could catch the biggest fish. Michelle Bufford was the lucky winner of the class with a large catfish weighing over two pounds. The Troy Elks Lodge #2805 donated a whopping $1,000 to the City Duck Pond. This donation was greatly appreciated as it allowed the city to be able to restock the fish for the year. A big “Thank You” goes out to everyone who makes these field trips for the R-III first graders possible.
