Seven year old boy seriously injured in ATV accident
A seven year old youth was seriously injured Friday morning (May 24) in an ATV accident near Foley, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred at 10:40 a.m. on Pine Court. According to the report, a 2008 Yamaha Grizzly ATV driven by James Schultz, 7, traveled over a large pile of dirt and overturned, ejecting the youth.
He was flown by Air Evac to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
In a separate accident, Edward Starz, 48, of Silex, sustained moderate injuries May 23 in a two-car accident on Palmer School Road, just south of Route D in Lincoln County. Time of the accident was 2:55 p.m.
He was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis.
According to the report. A 2000 Dodge Avenger driven by Kyle Smith, 19, of Silex, failed to maintain his side of the roadway around a curve and struck a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Starz. Both were using their seat belt at the time of the accident.
In an accident May 24 on Hwy. 47 just west of Hwy. 79, Chelsey Collins, 20, of Foley, suffered moderate injuries when a car she was riding in traveled off the right side of the road way, struck a tree stump and overturned. Driver of the 2007 Saturn Ion was Brian Garrett, 29, of Troy. Neither were using their seat belt at the time of the accident. which occurred at 11:40 a.m.
Collins was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West.
