James has taught and coached at Silex High School for the past 11 years and served as athletics director for the past seven years.

“I earned my master’s degree in administration two years ago so I knew this day would come,” he said. “It is a bittersweet moment for me. While I’m excited about the beginning of a new chapter in my education career, it is with a heavy heart that I leave an excellent school district like Silex. It was tough telling my players, administration and staff members about this.”

James coached the girls’ softball and basketball programs at Silex highlighted by the softball team capturing a state championship last fall.

Elaine Eversmeyer Henderson, Silex superintendent, said the process of interviews with candidates to succeed James is ongoing and a recommendation is expected to be presented to the Board of Education at their regular meeting scheduled for June 12.
