Get ready for county fair parade
The 53rd Annual Lincoln County Fair Parade will run through downtown Troy on Sunday, July 7 at 5 p.m. This annual event draws thousands of people to the area to kick off the weeklong fair. The parade will head east on West College to Main, south on Main to Monroe, and lastly, east on Monroe to Fairgrounds Park. A map is available on www.troyonthemove.com and www.lincolncountyfair.net.
Everyone is welcome! All county school bands, cheerleaders, drill teams, and dancers are being invited to walk the parade route. All clowns, pets, bikes, horses, antique cars/tractors, business vehicles, and floats are welcome. Boy and Girl Scouts, area clubs, and queens and kings of various events are asked to participate. City and County officials and politicians are also asked to take part.
There are two categories of floats that will be judged. The youth division will be for those 18 years old and younger. The adult division will be for those 19 years old and over including businesses. Floats will be judged on the following criteria: 1) Promotes theme: Barefoot Bluejean Nights; 2) Has an effective message; 3) Draws attention; and 4) Holds attention. Floats must not be over 12 feet high. Judged floats will be those who return a completed entry form by June 28. This entry form can be found in the Lincoln County Fair Book or on either website http://www.lincolncountyfair.net or www.troyonthemove.com.
Prize money for floats will be awarded in the below categories for both divisions.
Grand Champion: $500
Reserve Champion: $250
People’s Choice: $200
All blue ribbon floats: $100
All red ribbon floats: $75
All white ribbon floats: $50

All vehicles that will go through the parade route must enter for line up through the Clonts Field entrance off Hwy. 47. Drop off vehicles and parking will need to be found elsewhere.
Judged floats will be those who return completed attached entry form by June 28. General entries DO NOT need to complete an entry form and will NOT be judged. General entries must arrive by 4 p.m. for line-up. Semis and Political entries must arrive by 2 p.m. on the day of the parade and must notify Megan McQuoid at 314-540-0088 that you will be participating.
Please take note of the Toy City Ordinance: No candy may be thrown during parade. You may have people walking to hand out candy. Parade officials require that all horses wear a diaper or have a clean-up crew. Bikes and motorcycles must not be operated recklessly and must stay within parade diameters by not driving close to the crowd. Participants and spectators must obey directions from City and/or County Police Officers.
General guidelines: Business and Political entries are limited to two units. A unit is described as any motorized or horse drawn conveyance. A pull vehicle and connected trailer are considered one unit. If entries/vehicles would like to go through parade route together, entries/vehicles must arrive together. Parade entries must be dressed and act in a family friendly, G Rated, manner.
