Steve Wommack

Steve Wommack retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) effective June 1, 2013. Steve had 37 years of service with MoDOT at the time of his retirement.

Steve began his career in June 1976 as a crew worker at the Millwood maintenance facility. He would be promoted to a senior crew worker at that facility. In October 2003, Steve transferred to the Eolia maintenance facility, and would then move to the Elsberry maintenance facility as a senior maintenance worker when Eolia closed in 2011.

“I have enjoyed my time with MoDOT,” said Steve. “I will miss seeing everyone each day, but plan to stay in contact with my fellow co-workers,” he added. The Elsberry crew said they will miss having Steve there each day and the stories he shares.

Steve has lived in the Silex area his entire life, and after retirement he plans to dive into farming full-time and raise cattle.

Steve and his wife Mary Lou currently reside near Silex. He has four children: Christine Thompson, and her husband Shannon, of Eolia; Robert Wommack, and his wife, Lisa, of Middletown; Elizabeth Null, and her husband Randy, of Silex and Tommy Wommack, and his wife, Brittani, of Troy. Steve and Mary Lou have also been blessed with nine wonderful grandchildren.
