Kiwanis golf tournament attracts over ninety golfers
A sunny, warm and humid day greeted the golfers in the 22nd Annual Troy Kiwanis Club/Foundation Golf Tournament held May 18 at Woods Fort Country Club. Thirty-one teams entered the three-person scramble event. More than 90 individuals and businesses participated as hole sponsors and/or donors for this fundraiser. Members of the Key Club from Troy Buchanan High assisted the cooks with preparing lunch (grilled hot dogs, chips and a drink) and helped with stuffing ‘goody’ bags that were distributed to the participating golfers.
After a round of golf the entrants were treated to a smoked pork chop dinner which included corn on the cob and a baked potato along with a variety of beverages. After the dinner came the raffle drawing for donated prizes, awarding of the cash prizes to the top three teams in each of the three flights, prizes for special achievements such as the longest drive of the day . The event ended with the oral auction conducted by Rep. Ed Schieffer.
Because of the actions of many, the Kiwanis Club/Foundation had a successful fundraiser and will be able to give back to the community through its charitable foundation.
