Cash prizes for top two Missouri State Fair Idol entrants

 The Missouri State Fair Idol Contest will offer cash prizes to first and second place winners this year. The first place winner will receive $500 cash while the second place contestant will receive $250 cash. The contest, now in its eighth year, recognizes Missourians with outstanding musical talent.

“Fittingly, the dough is being sponsored by Bimbo Bakeries USA, with brands that include Oroweat, Sara Lee, Thomas’ and Nature’s Harvest,” Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe said.  “The company will also provide bakery gifts to all entrants participating in the 11-day singing competition.”

The contestant to be named 2013 Missouri State Fair Idol will also receive prizes that include singing one song on the Pepsi Grandstand Stage during the 2014 State Fair, a trophy sponsored by M&M Engraving of Sedalia, and a song recording at a Sedalia radio station.

The contest is open to all Missourians age 15 and older who qualify in one of two ways:

 

Participate and qualify in a contest held by a participating radio station:

  1. KAAN in Bethany, KMRN in Cameron, KXKX or KSDL in Sedalia, and KDKD in Clinton. For information on specific radio station contests, please visit their respective websites.
  2. Submit an audition video on YouTube, DVD or VHS to the Missouri State Fair office no later than July 26.

 

The Missouri State Fair Idol Contest, to be held on the Budweiser Stage located on the fairgrounds, will start with preliminary rounds to be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 8-13, from which judges will select semifinalists. These qualifiers will progress to semifinal rounds to be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 14-17, with judges determining who advances to the final round to be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 18.
