The American Legion Single A team takes first place in tournament

The American Legion Single A Team won first place in the St. Charles Memorial Day Wood Bat Tournament. There were nine teams in the tournament to compete against. They played five games with results as follows: 13-3 win over Lemay, 5-5 Tie with St. Charles, 3-2 win over Jerseyville, 15-4 win over Maryland Heights, 10-6 win over St. Peters for the Championship.
Elsberry American Legion Post #226 Single A team is composed of boys from Troy, Winfield, Elsberry and Clopton.
Tuesday, June 4, Elsberry Vs. New Haven. Elsberry won 4 to 3.
Cameron Turnbull got two hits, one being a double that drove in the tying run in the 6th inning.
Ryan Palmer, Cameron Turnbull and Alex Gutermuth each had an RBI.
Tyler Turnbull pitched five innings only allowing one hit.
Joey Marko pitched the 6th and 7th innings having two strike outs in the 7th to end the game.
On Wednesday, June 5, – Elsberry took on St. Peters and won 8-1.
Ryan Palmer and Matt Henry both hit a double.
Dave Dietz got three RBI’s on the night with Colby Martin and Matt Henry each having one.
Zach Rimel pitched six innings with nine strikeouts.
Payton White made a diving catch to end the third inning leaving two runners on base.
