Richard E. (Perk) Perkins Sr., 86, of Silex, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Silex Community Care Center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday July 22, 2013, at the Silex Assembly of God Church in Silex with Rev. George Prior, Rev. Richard Perkins III, Rev. James Skinner and Rev. Sammy Lorton officiating.  Visitation was held 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex. Burial was at the Mill Creek Cemetery at Silex.

Richard was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Silex the son of Elmer Lloyd and Maggie Ellen Copher Perkins.  He married Betty Jean Crispen July 15, 1950. She survives. Other survivors include one son Richard Eugene Perkins Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Houston; five daughters Margaret Cox and husband, Terry, of Troy, Phyllis Klober and Kelly, of Silex, Janet Slawson, of Silex, Donna Porter and husband, Wesley, of Montgomery City, Cathy Govero and husband, Philip, of New Hartford; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother-in-law Robert Sifrit and wife, Mina, of McPherson, Kan.; nephews and cousins.

Richard lived most of his life in Lincoln County but, in the 1960s lived a short time in northern Missouri. He was a member of the Briscoe Holiness Church, Lincoln County Fox Hunters Association and the Lavonia Fox Hunters Association. He attended Reisch American School Of Auctioneering, Mason City, Iowa where he graduated on Aug. 14, 1954, and worked as an auctioneer in Lincoln County for several years.

Carroll Hedeman Ponder Watts, 96, of Troy, Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her residence.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1916, in St. Louis, a daughter of the late Charles Carroll and Ella Christine (Bockhorst) Ponder. The family then moved to Troy.

She graduated from Buchanan High School in Troy and on April 28, 1935, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Watts at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. To this union three children were born, Robert, Ronald and Julie.

Carroll owned and operated Carroll’s Flowers in Troy for 30 years. She visited all 50 states and seven foreign countries. She was a charter member of the Troy Business and Professional Women and a member of the Evangeline Club. Carroll was a 90 year member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Troy and a member of the St. Ann’s Sodality.

She was a member of Friends of Lincoln County Memorial Hospital and Lincoln County Historical Society. She received the Historical Society Award.

She is survived by her loving children, Julie Hoffmann and husband, Gary of Troy, Robert “Bob” Watts and Sandra Freeland of Carlisle, Iowa and Ronald “Ron” Watts and wife, Jan of Wentzville; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at  Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home / Troy Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy.  Inurnment will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
