Page Branch Park is open
If you drive by Page Branch Park in Elsberry it is impossible to miss the newest addition. Through a generous grant from the Department of Natural Resources Solid Waste Management Program and East Central Solid Waste Management District an amazing playground was built at the park. Not only is it fun, but it is environmentally friendly as well. Ten tons of recycled tires were for the ground cover below the equipment. The playground equipment itself utilizes 39,500 recycled milk jugs in its manufacturing process. The equipment is also certified with 1SO 14001 standards. Grant funds totaling $19,769.25 were received and the total project cost was $27,138.00. The additional funds not covered in the grant came from the Page Branch Park committee’s fundraising efforts as well as a grant from the MFA Foundation.
The equipment is unique in design. There are a million ways to have fun with it. It is positioned close to the pavilion and the walking trail so that park users can safely let their children play while they exercise and picnic. The park is open every day from dawn to dusk.
The new playground at the Page Branch Park will provide many hours of fun for local youth with it’s innovative and unique design.
