Lincoln County Relay for Life and Troy FFA Alumni Association will once again host the 7th Annual Rodeo to benefit both of these charitable organizations on Friday and Saturday Aug. 23 and 24 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Troy, Mo. at 7:30 p.m. Amber Shafer and Mary Lou Thompson, Chairpersons, are hosting the Missouri Rodeo Cowboys Association & United Rodeo Association amateur rodeo with livestock from Outlaw 5J Rodeo with great determination and faith in the community. Lincoln County Relay for Life is one of the largest charities the community raises funds for throughout the year, which is a part of the American Cancer Society. Shafer said, “There is a great need to find a cure for cancer, and if we can do something to help, we want to be a part of it.” The Troy FFA Alumni Association was formed in 2004 to provide scholarships for Senior Troy FFA Members furthering their education. Amber was President of the Troy FFA chapter, now the Alumni Treasurer, and would have loved the opportunity to have a chance at these scholarships. “If we can find a way to continuously add funds, we can provide scholarships for years to come,” she added.
The event is sponsored by Wrangler’s “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” promotional campaign. This is a fun way to educate the community and cowboys alike that breast cancer affects all of us because we all have a mother, sister, or other family member that could be affected. The challenge is extended to come out and wear pink, if you’re tough enough! Amber and Mary Lou invite you to purchase your advanced tickets at any Peoples Bank & Trust location, American Family Insurance-Don Thompson Agency, Thornhill Real Estate & Auction, Parkside Mini-Mart, or from any Troy FFA member. Children 5 & under are FREE! It will be held rain or shine both nights.
Over the last six years, the rodeo has raised $103,605.10!
