Tucker hired to head economic development efforts in Lincoln County
At its meeting Monday, August 12 the Lincoln County Commission voted unanimously to approve the hiring of Larry Tucker CEcD, EDFP to become the county’s first ever full-time Economic Development Director.
Tucker, one of only 39 certified economic developers in the state, comes to Lincoln County from the City of Wentzville where he served as Economic Development Manager. Prior to his tenure at Wentzville, he served as executive director for the Perry County, MO Economic Development Authority from 2003-2011.
In an e-mail announcing the hiring to elected officials and department heads, Presiding Commissioner Dan Colbert stated, “After much research and consideration, we feel that the timing is right to actively go to work to achieve growth in the areas of commercial and industrial development, while simultaneously expanding our tax base…. The financial commitment to an endeavor of this magnitude is a substantial but worthy investment which should bear fruit now and for many years to come.”
Tucker is expected to start with the County in mid-September.
