Lincoln County Adopt-A-Family begins accepting applications
Now that Labor Day is behind us, the coordinators and volunteers of Lincoln County Adopt-a-Family are already looking forward to and preparing for Christmas.
Many families in the community are facing hardships that make it difficult to get by day to day. Higher cost of living, unemployment, and illnesses have made these families cut down their budget; so much so that there isn’t much left over to put aside for Christmas presents for their children. Imagine being a child in one of those families- wanting that special toy and waking up Christmas morning to find it bare under the tree. Money that would have normally gone to their children’s Christmas wish list was instead needed to put gas in the car, make sure the water was kept on, or needed to pay rent. Even worse, many of these families are doing without basic necessities- winter coats, shoes, and warm clothes.
If you find that this year you have been blessed to have abundance for your family and would like to reach out to one of these families who are in need – WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! The need is great, but as a community we can come together to help neighbors who are in need as Christmas approaches. Individuals, families, clubs, organizations, classrooms, scout troops, churches, sport teams, and business are all invited to help make a difference this Christmas. If you are interested in helping one of the families in need, please email the Adopt-a-Family team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (636)244-4640.
The coordinators and volunteers are looking forward to everything that the 2013 Christmas season will bring- families in need being reached out to by others in their community. So as you begin to plan what gifts you will buy for your own family, ask yourself: Am I willing to reach out to those in my community who are in need, and provide them with the Christmas they are wishing for?
