Ashley Smith Robinson, Atlanta’s Hostage Hero, to visit NorthRoad Church Sunday, September 22

Ashley Smith Robinson the “Atlanta Hostage Hero” will be visiting NorthRoad Church to share her testimony and the path that led her to Christ during both a 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, September 22.

For those of you unfamiliar with Ashley’s incredible story, Atlanta’s courtroom killer, Brian Nichols, forced his way in to her apartment and took her hostage on March 11, 2005. When he asked her for marijuana she offered him her remaining stash of methamphetamine. Ashley was battling a terrible addiction to methamphetamines at the time. Her addiction had pulled her away from her Christian family and led her down a dark and dangerous path.

Ashley had very little in her apartment, but she was able to find her copy of Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life.” She opened the book to the current chapter she was reading “Using What God Gave You” and read to Nichols during the seven hours he held her captive and encouraged him to reconsider his plans emphasizing how he could serve God if he surrendered. The following morning Nichols did just that.

Ashley believes this experience brought her closer to God and gave her a way to share her struggles with addiction to show it is never to late to turn one’s life around. She wrote a book chronicling her experience, “Unlikely Angel-The Untold Story of Atlanta’s Hostage Hero”, which debuted at number 15 on the New York Times Best Seller list, to help her reach even more people and share her love of God.

On September 22 the congregation of NorthRoad Church will have the ability to hear her account first hand and to witness the power God’s influence can have in a person’s life. Ashley will be talking about her up and down life before her run in with Nichols, share the change she felt during the seven hours he held her imprisoned in her own apartment and talk about how it is never to late to turn life around.
