Community service project for inmates

Inmates from the Lincoln County Jail spent most of the afternoon one day detailing patrol vehicles as part of a community service initiative.

Work performed through community service is worth $19 an hour based on national studies of Missouri. If the Sheriff’s Office was to contract out this service it would have cost $912 just in labor.

One inmate in particular owns a professional detailing shop in Lincoln County. He is currently incarcerated for a short stay due to a missed court date. The inmate professionally cleaned the yellow tinged headlight covers with a special cleaner and an electric buffer. To replace a set of headlight covers would have cost the Sheriff’s Office $200 a set; thus, saving $2,400.
