Woman seriously injured, teen dies in separate crashes
A Moscow Mills woman was seriously injured Monday morning in a two vehicle accident, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred Sept. 9 at 11:45 a.m. on Tropicana Village Drive at Industrial Court.
According to the report, a 2007 Mack Vision driven by Gerard Mesman, 57, of Gary, Ind. was stopped northbound at a stop sign and a 2008 Hyundai Tuscan driven by Marlene Costello, 79, of Moscow Mills, was traveling east on Tropicana Village Drive. The Mack was attempting to make a left turn from Industrial Court onto Tropicana Village Drive. The Hyundai swerved to avoid the impact as the Mack truck traveled into the path of the SUV where they collided. The impact resulted in the Hyundai overturning, coming to rest on its side. Both drivers were in their seat belts at the time of the accident.
Costello was airlifted by Air Evac Lifeteam ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
In a separate accident, Verus Overkamp, 55, sustained moderate injuries Sept. 6 on the South Outer Road 70 west of Route B in Warren County. Time of the accident was 1:50 p.m.
Overkamp was driving a 2007 Peterbuilt 357 when his vehicle was struck by a 2001 Ford F150 driven by Paul Aldridge, 56, of Clarksville which had crossed the centerline and struck Overkamp’s vehicle head on. Both drivers were using their seat belts at the time of the accident.
Overkamp was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.
One accident in Pike County on Sept. 7 claimed the life of Hannah Buchanan, 15, of Frankford. She was pronounced by a physician at Mercy Hospital after being airlifted to that facility following the accident.
Douglas Walsh, 44, Troy, suffered serious injuries Sept. 9 when he lost control while driving an ATV eastbound on North Rock Church Road. Time of the accident was 10 p.m. He was ejected from the vehicle.
Walsh was taken by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
