Troy Police warns of Affordable Care Act scams

The Troy Police Department wants citizens to beware of Affordable Care Act scammers.

With the Affordable Care Act going into effect on Oct. 1, officials are expecting health care scams to be on the rise. With all the confusion about the health care law, even savvy consumers might listen to a scammer’s pitch without realizing it’s bogus.

There are three (3) types of scams that are especially popular:

1. The “Threat of Jail” and other Urgent emails

2. Solicitors on the phone or at your door

3. Fake Navigators and other helpers
