Jeff and Jeanne Hogan of Silex were among the 108 families honored during the Missouri State Fair’s Farm Family Day on August 12.

The Hogans were selected as the Lincoln County Missouri State Fair Farm Family by the Lincoln County Extension Council and local Farm Bureau.

Jeff and Jeanne have five children: Thomas M. Miller and his wife, Melanie; Lonni Miller, Jessica Hedges and her husband Chris who have a son, Nolan; Phillip Hogan, and Matt Hogan. The Hogans were involved in FFA and 4-H with the children when they were young.

Each year, the fair sets aside a day to recognize farm families from across the state who are active in their community, involved in agriculture and participate in local outreach and extension programs such as 4-H and FFA.

In 1999 Jeff and Jeanne became the owner of a 115-acre farm near Silex. The farm consists of raising a cow/calf operation of Beefalo cattle and producing grass hay as their crop. They are members of the Pike/Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association, the Mid-American Beefalo Association, and the American Beefalo Association.

The annual event was sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri State Fair, the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and University of Missouri Extension.
