Area residents injured in separate accidents
A 13-year-old Silex teen was seriously injured in an ATV accident, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred Oct. 13 at Erica Drive south of Levi Lane at 10:57 a.m.
According to the report, a 2011 Polaris Ranger driven by Nicholas Maiuro, 13, of Eolia, went out of control while the driver was negotiating a curve in the roadway. It went off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Injured was Christopher Cannon, 13. He was airlifted by Air Evac Life Team to Children’s Hospital.
The driver was using a safety device while Cannon was not.
Another accident occurred Oct. 9 on Hwy. 47 at Bohemian Church Road at 10:34 a.m. According to the Patrol, A 1997 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Brandon Gardner, 23, of Hawk Point, traveled off the side of the roadway and struck a tree. Gardner was not using his safety device.
He was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West. His injuries were listed as minor.
A second accident that day (Oct. 9) occurred on Hwy. 79 at Old Dameron Road at 3:20 p.m. According to the Patrol, a 1987 International Harvester driven by Eric Heitman, 36, of Elsberry failed to stop at a posted stop sign and traveled into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Anna Cleeton, 67, of Louisiana. Cleeton was in her seat belt but Heitman was not.
Cleeton was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.
On Oct. 14, a Truxton man was injured when his 1985 Suzuki Quadrunner was traveling near the edge of the roadway and struck a concrete culvert. The driver, Quentin Boschert, 79, was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle came to rest on top of him. He was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West. He was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident. The accident occurred on Highway A.
