Sheriff Cottle teams up with DEA for prescription drug take back program
Lincoln County residents will have an opportunity to discard unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs from medicine

cabinets by dropping them off at the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff John Cottle teamed up with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA’s) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which was October 26, 2013.
Earlier this year, the DEA collected 371 tons of expired prescription medications from more than 5,829 locations throughout the United States. Since 2011, the program yielded more than 2.8 million pounds of old prescriptions.
The Sheriff positioned a drop box for residents within the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office where old prescription drugs can be dropped off anytime day or night securely. This program gives Lincoln County citizens a secure and responsible way for disposing controlled-substance medications.
