Trojans win two matches, district seeds announced

Troy Buchanan High Trojans beat Hazelwood West in two sets (25-14, 25-12) in high school volleyball.

The Trojans were aggressive in serving as they earned 33 points off of serving. The effort included four (4) aces by Baylie Carroll, three (3) by Stef Richterkessing, and both Riley Stephens and Katelyn Cherry added two. Baylie Carroll led in kills (7), Courtney Huff (5) and Riley Stephens (4). Stef Richterkessing had 17 assists on the night.

“It was a great night to celebrate our five seniors this season (Baylie Carroll, Katelyn Cherry, Courtney Huff, McKala Lawler, and Logan Mennemeyer),” said Coach Lane Cox.

Troy played Wentzville Timberland on Oct. 22 and won the match in three games (25-17, 21-25, 25-18). Carroll scored 8 points and Richterkessing had 7 points. Huff had 13 kills and Riley Stephens had 10. Huff had three blocks.

The pairings for the Class 4 district tournament at Columbia Rock Bridge has been announced. The district will be held Oct. 28-30. Troy Buchanan will meet Hannibal Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. If Troy wins, they will meet the survivor of the Jefferson City Helias and Battle High School match at 5 p.m. on Oct. 30. Finals of the district are set for Oct. 30 at 8 p.m.

Other teams assigned to the district include Rock Bridge, Wentzville Holt, Sedalia Smith-Cotton and Columbia Hickman.
