Through adversity including injuries and a tough schedule, the Winfield Lady Warriors have kept their eyes on their goals for the season, the second being winning a conference title.

player from Winfield for the past 26 years can say. “We are conference champions.”
In a tough match, Winfield defeated St. Charles West in two games (25-16, 25-21).
“All of the girls contributed in the win,” said Coach Nathan Harman. “It was a true team effort on offense and defense. The girls stepped up and I think it stems from the two great practices we had leading up to the match.”
When asked about the match and the meaning of the a conference title, junior captain Jaclyn Sommerlad said, “Everything came together and we played well as a team. The conference title was one of the goals all season and is an accomplishment we are all proud to achieve.”
Allison Reller scored eight points to lead the offense. Katie Burkemper had six kills with Sommerlad finishing with 17 assists.
The girls will be competing in the district tournament at St. Dominic this week. Their first game will be Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m. They will play the winner of the Warrenton-Christian match. If they win that game, they would advance to the title game that evening at 7 p.m. St. Dominic is seeded first with Winfield second seeded.
