Lincoln County Collector of Revenue, Jerry Fox, has released information about the upcoming tax season.

The Courthouse will be closed on November 11 for Veterans Day, November 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving, December 24 and 25 for Christmas and December 31 the courthouse will close at 12 p.m. and will be closed on Monday, January 1 for the New Year.

Tax Statements should be mailed by the second week of November. If you do not receive a statement please notify the Collectors Office. The failure of the taxpayer to receive the notice provided for in section 52.230 in no case relieves the taxpayer of any tax liability imposed by law. Taxpayers should review their statement(s). If any corrections are needed contact the Assessor’s Office at 636-528-6300 prior to paying your taxes, this will help expedite the correction process.

This year the Collectors Office will be using an electronic check processing system, which will decrease the time to process their mail remittance. Also, if you return the bottom portion of your statement it will speed up the processing of your taxes. Checks and Money Orders are to be made payable to Jerry L. Fox, Collector.

By Missouri State Statue section 52.240, taxes are due by December 31. Payments mailed and postmarked by December 31 will not be considered delinquent. Taxes will become delinquent January 1, 2014 with penalty and interest added to your tax bill. For the convenience of the taxpayer, there is a secured drop-box located near the back entrance of the courthouse for after-hour payments. The collector’s office also accepts, Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover and Debit Cards for payment of taxes, however, there is a service fee charged as they are a government entity and the cost of usage of your card cannot be deducted from the amount of your taxes.
