The Elsberry Middle School has officially joined numerous other schools around the country in organizing a National Junior Honor Society. Thirty-two students in grades sixth through eighth were involved in the inaugural ceremony on Sunday, October 27 in the high school gym. These students were chosen based on their grade point average, character, and an essay from their application for the society.
Kyle Hagan, sponsor of the organization, and Jason Miller, Middle School Principal, conducted the ceremony. Mr. Miller gave the welcome to friends and family present and Mr. Hagan remarked on the expectations of the organization. The traditional candle lighting ceremony was then held advocating the four aspects of NJHS, which include Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Citizenship. Both gentlemen then presented all of the students with a certificate. The organization’s purpose will be to promote student leadership and service in the school and community.
