Trojans took on Hannibal in the first round of Districts on Monday, Oct. 28 and defeated them in just two matches. The final score was 25-13, 25-20.
Kills were led by Courtney Huff with 12, Baylie Carroll with five, Logan Mennemeyer with four. Stef Richterkessing had 20 assists on the night.
The Trojans had a very productive night getting eight solo blocks (two from Carroll, Mennemeyer and Richterkessing). They also had nine Ace serves on the night (two from Carroll, Huff, McKala Lawler and Richterkessing).
“Offensively we had a very good night, moving the ball around, and placing it well in the court. We came out aggressive and were able to stay on top of Hannibal.”
Trojans ended their season in a two game series with Helias Catholic on Oct. 30 with a final score of 25-21, 25-15.
“We did a great job siding them out, giving away very few points off of serve. They did the same not allowing us to produce points off serve leaving the game very close the entire match. The first game was fun to watch,” said Lane Cox. “In between games we stressed that we need to produce more off of serves and that’s exactly how we came out in the second match taking an early lead.”
Unfortunately The Trojans stalled out at nine points when their two right sides had a collision and McKala Lawler had to come out of the game and Baylie Carroll remained on the court, but was a little shaken up. From there, Helias took nine straight points and Troy was unable to battle back.
Playing well for Troy were Baylie Carroll, seven earned points, four kills, one block. Stef Richterkessing 14 assists, seven digs. Courtney Huff six kills, two blocks, eight digs. And Riley Stephens, six kills, three points earned off serve. The Trojans are graduating five seniors that will be missed.
