Coffee Talk. Veterans meet at the Lincoln County Counsel on Aging every Thursday 9-10 a.m. for coffee and fellowship.

Mr. Terry Mayberry the Lincoln County Toys For Tots Coordinator said, “The campaign will run through December 22, 2013.” The Campaign operation center is located at the Mimir Flexo Printing, 300A Industrial Drive, Troy, Mo., 63379. The Mimir Flexo Printing donated about 1,500 square feet space for the sorting, storing and distributing toys throughout Lincoln County.

Toys and donations collected in Lincoln County will be distributed to needy children within Lincoln County. Close to 100 Toy Drop-Off-Points will be established throughout the campaign area.

No one locally is paid a salary. The Marine Corps League (MCL), Detachment 1405 and civilian volunteers spend many hours behind the scene in an effort to bring a little joy and cheer to needy children at Christmas time. Nationwide 97 percent of all collections are spent on Toys and Books for tots.

Individuals interested in joining the MCL Detachment 1405 should contact Detachment 1405’s Commandant Lenny “Doc” Morissette at 636-219-5319, or email at doc4MCL@yahoo.com. More information is available on the Web/Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MarineCorpsLeagueDetachment1405)

The campaign can use donations such as gas cards, large black trash bags, cell phones and phone cards, office supplies, etc…No donation is too small and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Many volunteers use their private cars and cell phones. Having a gas card or prepaid cell phone makes their job a bit easier. Of course, new toys and books are the most important.

One of the biggest challenges is identifying needy children. This takes a community effort and a lot of cooperation between the school districts and other human service agencies. You can contact Mr. Mayberry at 636-528-2115 and cell number 315-777-7025. Email address is wtmayberry1950@yahool.com. Mailing address is Toys For Tots, 350 Royal Bluff Court, Troy, Mo. 6379.

This is the first year that the Marine Corps League conducted a campaign in Lincoln County. Toys For Tots is a large operations that works with volunteers and donations. They do not have a base of toys, supplies, or donations to start the campaign.
