Edward S. Kohl, 79, of Silex, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, in Corinth, Miss.
He was born on May 26, 1934, in Silex to Frank and Sophronia (Leffeler) Kohl. Eddie was blessed to have seven siblings. He grew up on the family farm and this work was in his blood. He raised both crops and had livestock before his retirement in 2005. Being a life-long member of St. Alphonsus Church in Millwood was very important to him. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On March 28, 1957, Eddie was called to serve as a medic in the U.S. Army until March 27, 1959. He resumed farming upon returning home. On Sept. 29, 1962, he was married to the love of his life, Marjorie Luebrecht. Together they raised their two children: John and Susan. Eddie liked to hunt and watch western shows on the T.V.
Surviving are his son, John Kohl and wife Sharon, of Corinth, Miss. and his daughter, Susan and husband, Justin Elchert, of Moscow Mills. He was further survived by his two sisters: Frances and husband, Don Haley, of Troy and Julia Day, of Florissant and his 10 adoring grandchildren: Nick, Logan, Jon, Chase, Kymberly, Nichole, Hannah, David, Monica and Megan and his five loving great-grandchildren: Jackson, Kyran, Griffin, Marley and Jensen; other relatives and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at St. Alphonsus Church, Millwood. Fr. Chuck Tichacek officiating.
