Ilah Marie Allen
Ilah Marie Allen, 93, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at the Troy Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on March 13, 1920, in Denver, Colo., a daughter of the late Walter G. and Florence (Schwarze) Schaper. Ilah Marie was united in marriage to John N. Allen on April 5, 1942, at the Sacred Heart Rectory in Troy and he preceded her in death on May 8, 1988. To this union three children were born.
She graduated from Buchanan High in 1938. She was employed at the family business, Schaper Motors, and then Weinand Brothers and Weinand Younger. She was a lifelong member of the St. Stephen United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Ilah Marie traveled to almost every state and several different countries. She was a member of and held various offices in the Bernice Withrow Club, Monday Morning Madams Bible Study, Methodist WSCS, St. Stephen United Methodist Church, American Bible Society, LCCOA and Bread For Life Food Pantry. She was instrumental in the construction of both the LCCOA and Bread For Life Food Pantry new facilities.
She is survived by her children: Betty Konecne, of Boulder, Colo., Shirley Brown, of Eolia and Nick Allen, of Troy; one sister, Shirley Montgomery, of Troy; grandchildren, Angie Smith (Doug), Karla Konecne, Michele Noah (Brad) and Kim Leake (Paul); great-grandchildren, Kyle and Bo Smith, Dylan, Brayden, Calleigh and Ashlyn Noah, Evan and Erin Leake; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home/Troy Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Private family interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Pastor Steve Pinnell.

John Askey, 84, Wentzville, Mo., passed away Jan. 2, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. service, all on Jan. 4, 2014 at the Pitman Funeral Home in Jonesburg. Interment followed in the Jonesburg City Cemetery.
He was a mechanical engineer.
He is survived by two sons and three grandchildren.
Deward Herring, 90, of Silex, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 30, at Villages of St. Peters.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1923, in Winfield to Joseph and Edna Bell (Willis) Herring. At the age of 13, his family moved to Elsberry and Deward graduated from Elsberry High School. He was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII where he earned a Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge from service, he met and shortly after, married his soulmate, Pauline Hoff, on Jan. 9, 1949, at the Elsberry Baptist Church in Elsberry. They were blessed with six children: two sons, Keith, Kevin; four daughters, Brenda, Rita, Donna and Deanna. He was such a hard worker and worked from sunrise until sunset on his farm. Farming was in his blood, but he also worked for 22 years at McDonnell-Douglas Corp., driving back and forth to St. Louis. For over 50 years, he was a member of the Sulphur Lick Baptist Church in Troy.
Surviving are his loving family: his wife of 64 plus years, Pauline Herring, of Silex; his sons: Keith and wife, Lori Herring, of Marshfield, Kevin and wife, Judy Herring, of Hannibal; his four daughters: Brenda and husband, George Rogers, of St. Peters, Rita and husband, Bernard Schonhoff, of Letts, Iowa, Donna and husband, Richard Stobaugh, of Blue Springs, Deanna and husband, Chuck Tilly, of St. Peters. He is further survived by his 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; his two brothers: Martin and wife, Carol Herring, of Winfield and Wayne and wife, Arlene Herring, of Elsberry, other relatives and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy.
Funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, also at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, Troy. Rev. Bill Edwards will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Elsberry City Cemetery, Elsberry.

Eileen Scott Kalupa, 67, of Moscow Mills, passed away Dec. 29. 2013, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Born April 4, 1946 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mildred Scott who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Kelly (Jessica) Norman, of Solana Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Ed (Joyce) Scott, John (Margaret) Scott; two sisters: Kay (Terry) Wyeth, Ann (Mitch) Phelps; 13 nieces/nephews; 19 great-nieces/nephews.
She worked as an administrative assistant. She was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Josephville and an avid gardener.

Mrs. Anna Alberta Medlock, 87, of Wentzville and formerly of Troy, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at ParkLane Nursing and Rehab in Wentzville.
