Rick Haggard benefit dinner and silent auction
Jody and Mason Haggard
The Haggard family has suffered from several life changing tragedies within the past couple of years and community support has been key to helping Jody Haggard back on her feet.
“There are so many hard things since the accident. Something that is difficult is not having the loving husband and daddy that makes our family complete. And trying to raise our son Mason . . . some-thing I never imagined doing alone,” said Jody Haggard.
Jody Haggard’s life has changed forever. Her husband, Rick, age 39, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 as a result of an automobile accident in which he was hit head on. He was pronounced dead at the scene – his life was cut short. The tragedy of his death has been more devastating due to the recent loss of their infant son, Levi, in a horrific babysitting accident.
Jody and Rick were married on April 12, 2008 and together they had two beautiful boys, Mason and Levi. They settled in Troy to raise their family. Rick was a loving, caring and dependable father and husband. His family and friends meant the world to him. Not only did Jody lose her husband, but she also lost her source of household income.
Jody talks about her financial situation. “We’ve had immediate loss of my husband’s income since the accident. I had loss of my income for three months since I was not able to work due to severe circumstances. I just recently went back because I want to keep our home and have bills to pay. At this point we are trying to figure everything out to see if I can stay in our home. Our home is where mine and Rick’s hopes and dreams began. Our plan was to raise our two beautiful boys here. I just don’t want to lose anything we worked so hard for.”
