The Lincoln County Marine Corps League Detachment #1405 officers are currently visiting local schools and presenting “Our Flag… Regard With Honor”. This presentation begins with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a line-to-line break down of the Pledge of Allegiance in order to help students understand the importance of the words they are saying. Students are also asked what the flag means to them at the beginning of the presentation. They are then given first hand accounts of what the flag means to the Marine Corps League officers. Along with the first hand accounts students are also taught the history of the flag and each student is given a flag and careful instructions on how to properly care for a flag as well as the proper way to dispose of a flag. Each lesson ends with a demonstration on how to fold a flag and the meaning behind each of the 12 folds. Then students are given the chance to fold a flag with a partner.
