Troy to host districts this week, welcomes several familiar conference teams
The basketball season for Troy teams continue to bounce up and down as they prepare for this week’s district which will be held in Troy. The following are the highlights.
Troy boys lost 64-61 to DeSmet. Adam Mennemeyer and JD Powell were leading scorers with 16 points each. Ryan Cockrell followed with 11 pts. The Spartans held a 21-13 edge in scoring in the final period to pull out the win.
The boys pulled out a 51-49 win over Francis Howell Central. JD Powell led with 16 points and Connor Wiemann followed with 11 points.
They lost 58-56 to Timberland.
In girls’ action, Troy lost 62-37 to Marquette. Taylor Campbell led the Lady Mustangs with 33 points. McKala Lawler and Haley Meyer led Troy with 13 and 11 points respectively. Troy posted a 62-47 win over Timberland. McKaka Lawler led with 25 points followed by Miranda Chaney with 10 points.
Troy will be host to a Class 5 district tournament. In the boys division, Troy will play Timberland March 3 at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to play top-seed Fort Zumwalt West March 4 at 7 p.m. Francis Howell will play Wentzville Holt March 4 at 8:30 p.m. The winners March 4 will meet March 7 at 7 p.m. in the final.
On the girls’ side, Holt will play Timberland March 3 at 5:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to play top-seed Fort Zumwalt West March 4 at 4 p.m. Francis Howell will play Troy Buchanan at 5:30 p.m. Girls final will be March 7 at 5:30 p.m.
